At FundingTraders, a proprietary trading firm built for ambitious traders, we spotlight the funded traders who turned early struggles into lasting consistency through disciplined risk management and a resilient mindset. This month we feature Marvin Pastor and Taiwo Jimoh, two traders whose journeys through funded trader programs prove that success is earned through patience, strong habits, and a clear trading plan. In the funded trader insights that follow, you will learn how they manage risk, protect their funded accounts, and keep growing.

Quick Summary Box

In this Funded Trader Insight, two funded traders share what it really takes to succeed with a proprietary trading firm. Marvin Pastor spent two losing years blowing account after account before turning profitable in his third year, and he breaks down the trading strategies and macro-driven process he uses to read the market with tightly controlled risk. Taiwo Jimoh, roughly three years into his trading journey, explains how a written trading plan and disciplined trading journals transformed impulsive decisions into a consistent trading business. Together they cover the trading challenge, funded accounts, risk management, and the right mindset that separate successful traders from everyone else, plus actionable advice for anyone chasing funded trader programs and consistent payouts.

Two Funded Traders Who Refused to Quit

Marvin and Taiwo come from different backgrounds, but their stories rhyme: early losses, a hard-won mindset shift, and a growing respect for risk. Both are proof that becoming one of the funded traders in this industry is less about raw talent and more about process, patience, and the willingness to learn the market on its own terms.

Trader Marvin Pastor

<img decoding="async" src="https://images.surferseo.art/8946b260-b9ef-4081-98fe-31654ff82eea.png" alt="Trader quote graphic on a dark green background with a faint grid pattern. How did those first years unfold before you found any consistency?

I’m started learning forex trading since July 2023 And my first two years is losing years for me Blowing accounts after accounts and finally on my 3rd years slowly got to breakeven stage into profitable trader now.

What was the single biggest mindset shift that finally helped you pass and protect your funded accounts?

The mindset of not chasing money and master the risk management was help me a lot on my trading.

Setbacks are part of every trader’s story. When things got hard, what kept you pushing toward real capital and funded accounts?

Yeah there’s lot of setbacks i experienced before i pass prop firm challenges But when i look at my family specially My kids it makes me push myself to learn the market and not giving up and get the freedom I’m dreaming off.

Looking back, what is the one mistake that taught you the most about protecting your capital?

The mistake of not putting a stop loss and also overconfident to my strategy that expecting it will work all the time.

For traders who feel like giving up during a tough trading challenge, what would you tell them?

For all beginner traders out there you must first prioritize learning the market and how it really works.

Walk us through your actual process, from your favorite approach, to how you analyze the market, to how you manage a trade once you’re in.

Yeah sure i will explain it how i analyze the markets. Assuming now its Monday

Step 1: I will find first what is the direction of US dollar base on macroeconomics and fundamentals is it bullish or bearish.

Step 2: I will defined the latest tone of fed officials especially Kevin Warsh are they hawkish or dovish? And from there i know how to put my bias on certain assets cause i believed US dollar can affect almost all kinds of assets we trade.

Step 3: I will defined among all major central banks who is most hawkish and who’s most dovish.

Step 4: After choosing a forex pairs to trade That’s the time i will go to the chart and mark up some support and resistance on daily timeframe then pulling up my 200 EMA On the chart.

Step 5: I will go to 4h time frame then from there i will analyze the market structure sometimes if there’s an impulse move to the upward or to the downward i will use Fibonacci retracement Then mark up the 0.5 level then if the price of certain pair manage to pullback of that level.

I’m confident enough to enter the market with a controlled risk approximately 0.3 % per trade and with that trading idea I’m giving myself 3 bets, and worst case scenario I’m lost 3 consecutive I’m lost only 1% of my account then move on. About my RR I’m make sure i will put my TP on 1:2 to 1:4 RR minimum Then I’m using manual trailing stop While the price move to the direction i want. I will manage my trade by moving my stop lose and trim some risk from the table or move my stop loss to breakeven then i will wait and let the market do his job. As long as i have set my SL and TP I’m good to go, and will force myself to move away myself from the charts by playing on chess.com. That’s the way i manage myself and approach the market. For all the new traders out there, do not focus only on charts you can also consider the macroeconomics and fundamentals to find your bias. That’s all god bless us all.

Marvin’s edge isn’t a secret indicator, it’s disciplined risk and a repeatable process anyone can build. Like the saying goes “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. Having a trading plan transforms your trading from impulsive gambling to a disciplined and efficient business like model, enhancing performance evaluation and better long term profitability. The ones who last recognize their emotional triggers, avoid revenge trades during a losing streak, and stay just as disciplined during a winning streak, managing every position with the same steady hand. Whether you trade the volatile London session or wait patiently through a range bound market, the edge comes from consistency, not intensity. Our transparent rules, educational resources, and clear performance metrics are all designed to help you build confidence and protect what you have earned, including the consistent payouts that come once your funded trading account is reliably profitable.

Conclusion: Discipline, Consistency, and the Path Forward

The lessons from these two funded trader insights are strikingly similar: master risk management, build discipline, and let consistency compound over time. If there is one final piece of actionable advice to carry with you, it is this: protect your account, respect the reward you are working toward, and stay involved in a community that pushes you to be better. FundingTraders gives aspiring funded traders the platform, the tools, and the support to turn that mindset into real results. The key is not luck; it is showing up with a plan, every single day.

Discipline compounds, and so does opportunity.
