It is for traders who have hit that limit, or expect to, and want to know who applies what. FundingTraders is a proprietary trading firm and one of the four compared here, including where our number is as strict as any in the table. We are not a broker and take no deposits: our accounts are simulated, not real capital.

What a consistency rule is (with the payout math)

A consistency rule limits the share of your total profits that may come from your best single day. It is a payout eligibility test, not a pass condition for an evaluation, and it does not fail your account. Goat Funded Trader’s consistency rule explainer: “Not meeting the Consistency Rule will not result in account termination or an account breach. However, you will not be able to request a payout until your highest profit day is below X% of your total profits for the payout period.” FundingPips files its Consistency Score on the FundingPips Zero page under “Soft Breach: Rewards Blocked Until Resolved”. The rule blocks a withdrawal; it does not end the account.

FundingTraders publishes the following formula on its Instant Funding and 1-Step Pro help articles:

Consistency Score = (Highest Trading Day Profit / Total Trading Days PNL) x 100

PNL is the summed profit of every trading day in the payout cycle, not your account balance. “Partial trades are counted on the day the position is fully closed”, so whether a single day’s profit came from a single session, multiple sessions or one trade, what counts is the day it closed. The test is a defined percentage of total profits over a given period that your top single day must stay under.

A worked example: how one big day delays your payout

Illustration only, from our published Example 2 on the Instant Funding help article: eight days totalling $8,000, largest day $2,000. The consistency calculation is one line, $2,000 / $8,000 x 100 = 25%, and on our 15% threshold the ceiling is $1,200, so that day exceeds it by $800. Our published remedy: $2,000 / 0.15 = $13,333.33, or $5,333.33 more, none of it on a day above $2,000, because a new biggest day sets a new profit target with it. The same days give the same 25% under different market conditions and on any account size: one big winning day does the damage, and that 25% clears the 35%, 40% and 50% consistency thresholds below while failing the 15% and 20%.

Why firms use consistency rules

Both firms publishing a reason cite steady profits and performance stability: Goat Funded Trader designs the rule so traders are “not relying on one unusually large trading day”, and FundingTraders reserves payouts for steady performance. What a consistency rule requires is enough sessions over multiple days, so the remedy is to continue trading until your top day is a smaller share.

Prop firm consistency rules across the major firms (September 2026)

A consistency rule is set per account type and, at FundingPips, per reward cycle, and several apply only at the funded stage, not the evaluation phase. Two caveats: the article does not say which accounts can buy it or what it costs, only that it “may not be applicable to all accounts”; and it changes the score you are measured against, nothing else.

“No consistency rule” is not automatically the better deal

A missing prop firm consistency rule is one absent gate, not automatically a better deal. Goat Funded Trader Instant Premium publishes none, and on the same page a 6% intraday trailing Max Overall Loss, a floating loss rule of 1.5% (1% from September 2, 2026) that permanently closes the account, and a 10-day reward cycle.

FundingPips 2 Step Standard is the clearest example of a payout gate not called a consistency rule. Its Profit Concentration Policy: one trade idea worth more than 60% of the profit target in any evaluation phase forces 4 minimum profitable days before every reward on the resulting Master Account, for that account’s lifetime, reaching even the Weekly and Bi-Weekly cycles exempted from the 35% score.

FundingTraders, so the point cuts both ways. Our 2-Step Pro accounts carry no consistency score, and our funded-phase news cap still delays payouts when over 30% of total profits come from high impact news trades. FundedNext’s Stellar Instant, meanwhile, says nothing at all about drawdown or payouts.

What to check instead: drawdown type, payout schedule, other payout gates

Drawdown type. Our 2-Step Pro maximum loss limit “is fixed and does not trail higher when you’re in profit”, while our 1-Step Pro 10% maximum drawdown trails the highest balance, as does Goat Funded Trader’s Pay Later, whose “drawdown level never moves down”.

Payout schedule. Our Instant Funding pays every 7 days, the first payout 7 days after the first trade, and Pro accounts every 21 or 14; Goat Funded Trader publishes 10 days on Instant Premium, 14 elsewhere.

Other payout gates. Count them, because a funded trader is usually blocked by the gate they did not read: FundingPips Zero needs a 15% score, 7 profitable trading days of 0.25%+ per rolling 30 days, a 3% safety cushion and a biggest loss under the biggest win, all at once, treating that minimum number of profitable days as a hard breach too.
