Trading during off-peak hours

Liquidity is naturally thinner at certain times, such as overnight and on weekends. During those windows:

  • Spreads may be wider than usual. Thinner liquidity typically means higher spreads, which raises your cost to enter and exit a position.

  • Price can move sharply on lighter volume. Size your positions and set your risk with this in mind.

Trading these quieter windows can still be worthwhile, just plan your entries, stops, and position sizing around the wider spreads rather than assuming peak-hour conditions.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need to turn anything on? No. If your account is eligible, the instruments above are already unlocked and ready to trade at any time.

  • Can I really trade on weekends? Yes. For the five instruments listed above, you can open, manage, and close positions 7 days a week.

  • Why are my spreads wider at night or on the weekend? Because liquidity is thinner during off-peak hours. Wider spreads in those windows are expected.

  • What about instruments that aren't on the list? Everything not listed above trades on its normal session schedule. Only the five instruments named here are available 24/7.

  • Will my open positions stay open outside regular hours? Yes, for eligible 24/7 instruments, positions can be held and managed around the clock.
