Important Notice:
Every account at FundingTraders is governed by the rules and standards below. Read them before you place a trade.
Passing an evaluation or booking a profitable week is not enough on its own. How the result was achieved matters just as much as the result itself. Failure to follow these rules may lead to flagged trades, strikes, deductions, restrictions, or account termination, depending on the severity of the violation. Your live status against every rule is tracked in the Clarity Desk inside your FundingTraders dashboard.
Day or Swing? Quick Comparison
2-Step comes in two account types: Day and Swing. Both have the same targets, loss limits, sizes and platforms. They differ in what you can hold overnight, in minimum trading days and in how your profit split works.
2-Step · Day | 2-Step · Swing | |
Built for | Scalpers and same-day traders | Traders who hold through sessions |
Hold trades overnight | ❌ Forex, gold, indices and oil: closed at the end of each trading day ✅ Crypto: can stay open | ✅ Yes, all markets |
Hold trades over the weekend | ❌ Forex, gold, indices and oil: closed before the Friday close ✅ Crypto: can stay open | ✅ Yes, all markets |
Trade crypto on weekends | ✅ Yes | ✅ Yes |
Minimum trading days | None in Phase 1 and 2 · 4 on funded | 4 in Phase 1 · 4 in Phase 2 · 2 on funded |
Profit split | 80% included · 90% or 100% with add-ons | 70% → 80% → 90%, growing with each paid payout |
Profit targets | Phase 1: 10% · Phase 2: 5% | Phase 1: 10% · Phase 2: 5% |
Daily / maximum loss | 5% / 10% | 5% / 10% |

Platforms | MT5 · TradeLocker | Same |
Which one should I choose?
Choose Day if you're usually flat by the end of the day. Forex, gold, indices and oil close for you at 16:55 New York time, crypto can stay open, and there are no minimum trading days in Phase 1 and 2. You get an 80% split from your first payout, with add-ons up to 100%.
Choose Swing if you hold forex, gold, indices or oil overnight or through the weekend. Your split starts at 70% and grows with every payout.
Not sure? Check your trading history. If your forex, gold, index and oil trades are almost always closed the same day, Day fits. If you often hold them past 16:55 New York time, choose Swing.
Already have a 2-Step account?
Nothing changes for your current account with this launch. It keeps its current rules, profit split and payout schedule.
If we move existing accounts to Day or Swing, we'll email you in advance, explain exactly what changes, and let you choose the account type that fits how you trade.
Day Account: The Daily Close
Day accounts trade within the day. Any forex, gold, index or oil position still open near the end of the trading day is closed for you automatically. Crypto positions are not closed and can stay open overnight and over the weekend.
What happens | New York time | UTC (US winter time) | UTC (US summer time) |
Warning sent (email and in-platform notice) | 16:40 | 21:40 | 20:40 |
Open forex, gold, index and oil positions closed, and their pending orders cancelled (crypto stays open) | 16:55 | 21:55 | 20:55 |
New orders blocked | 16:55–17:00 | 21:55–22:00 | 20:55–21:00 |
New trading day starts | 17:00 | 22:00 | 21:00 |
US winter time runs from the first Sunday in November to the second Sunday in March. US summer time covers the rest of the year. The New York time never changes.
Monday to Thursday: the close above happens every day.
Friday: the same close happens at 16:55 New York time. After that, Day accounts can't trade forex, gold, indices or oil until the market reopens on Sunday. Crypto can still be traded.
Crypto: crypto trades 24/7. On Day, crypto positions are not closed at 16:55 or at the Friday close, so they can stay open overnight and over the weekend, and you can open new crypto trades on weekends. Your daily and maximum loss limits apply at all times, including weekends.
Markets that close early: if an instrument's market closes before 17:00 New York time (for example on a holiday), Day positions on that instrument are closed 5 minutes before that market closes.
What the auto-close means for your account
An auto-close is not a rule breach. Your account stays active.
The profit or loss counts normally toward your daily loss limit, maximum loss limit and profit target for that day.
Prices near the close can move quickly and spreads can widen. To choose your own exit, close your trades before 16:55 New York time.
Swing Account: Profit Split That Grows
On a Swing funded account, your profit split rises with each payout you receive.
Payout on your funded account | Your profit split |
1st payout | 70% |
2nd payout | 80% |
3rd payout and every payout after | 90% |
Only paid payouts count. If a payout is denied, your next payout stays at the same step.
The split applies to this funded account only. A new funded account, or a reset, starts again at 70%.
Your dashboard and payout screen show your current split and the next step, for example "70% now · 80% after this payout".
Profit split add-ons are not available on Swing.
Rules and Objectives
These rules are the same for Day and Swing. Any violation of a rule or trading objective will result in the immediate termination of the account.
Profit Targets
Phase 1 Profit Target - 10%
The account balance (not equity) must reach 10% profit relative to starting account balance. All positions must be closed.
Example:
Starting Account Balance: $100,000
Profit Target: $10,000
Phase 2 Profit Target - 5%
The account balance (not equity) must reach 5% profit relative to starting account balance. All positions must be closed.
Example:
Starting Account Balance: $100,000
Profit Target: $5,000
Daily Loss Limit
5%
Current equity or balance must not reach -5% of the challenge account size relative to the starting day's balance.
Example:
Challenge Account Size: $100,000
5% of Challenge Account Size: $5,000
Starting Day's Balance: $102,000
Max. Daily Loss: $97,000
At any point within that day, the current equity or balance must not drop to $97,000.
Maximum Loss Limit
10%
Current equity or balance must not reach -10% relative to the challenge account size. This is fixed and does not trail higher when you're in profit.
Example:
Challenge account size: $100,000
Max. Overall Loss: -$10,000
At any point during the evaluation, the current equity or balance must not drop to $90,000.
Maximum Risk Per Trade Idea (Funded Phase Only)
To maintain consistent risk management, traders must follow this guideline:
Maximum Risk per trade idea = 2% of the initial account balance
What counts as one Trade Idea?
A trade idea is considered one idea if:
You open trades in the same symbol and direction that are active simultaneously, or;
You close and reopen trades in the same symbol and direction within 2 minutes.
If trades are on different symbols or in opposite directions, they are treated as separate trade ideas.
Swing Accounts: Weekend Positions
On Swing, positions you hold over the weekend count toward this limit. A loss from a price gap when the market reopens counts toward the 2% limit, so size weekend positions with the gap in mind.
Example: $50,000 Account
Account Balance: $50,000
Maximum Risk per Trade Idea (2%): 50,000 x 0.02 = 1000
This means: for any single trade idea, the maximum total allowed floating or closed loss is $1000 (whether that comes from one trade or multiple positions combined).
Trade Idea Examples
✅ Single Trade Idea (within limit):
Open GOLD BUY (floating or closed loss $375 = 0.75%)
Open another GOLD BUY (floating or closed loss $375 = 0.75%)
Total floating or closed loss: $750 (1.5%) → Allowed
❌ Single Trade Idea (over limit):
Open GOLD BUY (floating or closed loss $750 = 1.5%)
Open another GOLD BUY (floating or closed loss $750 = 1.5%)
Total floating or closed loss: $1,500 (3%) → Not Allowed
✅ Multiple Trade Ideas (independent losses):
Open GOLD BUY (floating or closed loss $750)
Open AUDUSD BUY (floating or closed loss $750)
Open GBPJPY SELL (floating or closed loss $750)
Each is a separate trade idea → All allowed
In short: On a $50,000 account, no more than $1000 floating or closed loss may be allocated to a single trade idea, regardless of how many entries you use within it.
Remember, this rule is only applied in the funded phase.
Guidelines
Additional account and trading guidelines.
News Trading
Challenge Phase Rules
News trading is fully permitted during the Challenge phase, with no restrictions in place.
Traders may engage in any form of news trading.
There are no limitations regarding profit percentages, timing restrictions, or penalties during this stage.
Funded Phase Rules
News trading is allowed, but one critical guideline must be followed:
No more than 30% of total profits can be derived from trades influenced by high impact news. If this threshold is exceeded, payout processing will be delayed until additional trades reduce the percentage below the limit.
Timing Restrictions
For the purpose of the 30% rule, a trade is classified as a "News Trade" based on specific timing relative to a Red Folder event affecting that specific asset.
The 10-Minute Window: A trade is considered a News Trade if it is opened, held, or closed within the window of:
5 minutes before the news release.
5 minutes after the news release.
Affected Instruments
All currency pairs linked to the news event are restricted, along with indices tied to the relevant currency's economic news.
For example:
US30 will be flagged during high impact US news events.
DAX will be restricted during EUR-related news events.
JPN225 will be restricted during JPY-related news events.
These instruments are subject to the same news-trading guidelines and restrictions.
Special Exceptions/Key Differences
To accommodate traders who prefer not to micromanage positions around news events, 2-Step Day and Swing accounts may hold trades through such events under the following conditions:
Trades with trade duration of 5 hours or more before the release of any high impact news shall not be considered News Trading.
Profits from news-influenced trades must remain below 30% of total PnL.
Both rules must be followed for trades held through news events to remain compliant.
Leverage
FundingTraders supports up to 1:50 leverage, with specific ratios for each instrument class to suit different trading strategies and manage risk appropriately.
1:50 leverage on FX Majors gives scalpers and day traders the flexibility to capture intraday price movements with smaller margin requirements.
Lower leverage on other asset classes reflects their unique volatility and risk profiles.
All traders are encouraged to use leverage responsibly and practice robust risk management to maximize opportunity without exposing accounts to excessive risk.
This tiered leverage structure ensures both opportunity and account protection, aligning with FundingTraders' focus on sustainable trading.

Account Reset While Payout is Being Processed
2-Step Day and Swing accounts are automatically reset to their initial balance while a payout request is being processed, allowing traders to continue trading without any interruption.
If an account fails within 48 hours of a payout request, the payout will be denied. The account will then be reinstated, and the payout amount will be credited back to the account balance.
FAQ
Will an auto-close fail my Day account?
No. An auto-close is not a rule breach. The profit or loss from the closed trades counts toward your limits and target as normal.
Will I get a warning before the close?
Yes. If you have open forex, gold, index or oil positions or pending orders, you'll get an email and an in-platform notice 15 minutes before the close.
Can I trade crypto on weekends?
Yes, on both Day and Swing. On Day, crypto positions stay open through the daily and Friday close, and you can open new crypto trades over the weekend. Forex, gold, indices and oil reopen on Sunday.
Are there minimum trading days on Day?
Not in Phase 1 or Phase 2: hit the target and you move on. On a funded Day account, you need at least 4 trading days before each payout.
Can I change my account type later?
You can change between Day and Swing when you request a payout or reset your account, once per payout cycle. To switch to Day, you must have no open positions or pending orders.
Does Swing pay out more than Day?
Not necessarily. Day starts at 80% and can go to 100% with add-ons. Swing starts at 70% and reaches 90% from your third payout. Choose the account that matches how you trade.
