FTMO Banned Countries List (2026): Where FTMO Does Not Accept Traders

[read_meter]
Blog header banner with the FUNDING TRADERS logo over a dark, blurred candlestick chart, titled "FTMO Restricted Countries" with the subheading "71 CFD Entries, 101 Futures Entries, 4 Excluded by Nationality, and Where to Trade Next," the closing phrase highlighted in green.

The FTMO restricted countries list, captured from FTMO’s own CFD FAQ on September 7, 2026, names 75 countries and territories for CFD accounts: 71 by residence plus four excluded by nationality as well as residence. FTMO’s Futures FAQ, lists 101 by residence plus the same four. This page is for a trader checking whether FTMO will accept a signup from their country and, if not, where to look next. FundingTraders is a prop firm and one of the two firms compared here, and we say so wherever it matters. Every FundingTraders evaluation and funded account runs in a simulated environment; FundingTraders is not a broker and does not accept deposits for trading capital.

FTMO restricted countries: the full list

FTMO’s CFD FAQ, excludes five categories of individuals and entities ahead of its country-by-country list:

  • Persons (both nationals and residents) from Iran, Syria, Myanmar, and North Korea
  • Individuals listed on international sanction lists
  • Individuals with a criminal record related to financial crime or terrorism
  • Persons previously banned due to a breach of contract
  • Corporate clients structured as company trusts

One conditional exception: nationals of Iran, Syria, or Myanmar may be accepted with valid documentation confirming EEA residency and a verifiable bank account in their name at a traditional EEA bank (not neo bank or fintech). North Korea has no exception. Outside those categories and the country list below, FTMO’s FAQ says it accepts clients globally with no specific qualifications required, and all clients must be over the age of 18.

Countries restricted for the futures product

The FTMO restricted countries for futures sit on a separate page, Who can join FTMO Futures?, published August 19, 2026. It has 101 entries: all 71 CFD entries plus 30 futures-only ones, including Australia, China, Vietnam, Libya, Yemen, Kenya, Ghana, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, and several small islands and territories. Ukraine is listed whole. The nationality exclusions, the EEA exception, and the stated basis are unchanged; FTMO Futures accepts “registrations from natural persons only.”

A third page, Who is eligible for a Live Funded Account?, names 35 countries, including Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, and Mongolia. Their residents, in FTMO’s words, “can still enjoy the full FTMO Futures experience on a Sim-Funded Account, including payouts,” but are not moved to a Live Funded Account.

Why FTMO restricts these countries

Sanctions and international compliance

The four nationality-and-residence exclusions in FTMO’s CFD FAQ overlap with the international sanctions picture: three of the four (North Korea, Iran, and Myanmar) are named in FATF’s June 19, 2026 statement on high-risk jurisdictions; Syria is not. FTMO’s General Terms and Conditions were updated August 4, 2026. Clause 1.1 requires that you are “not included on sanctions lists of the European Union, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, the United Nations or the Czech Republic.” Sanctions rules, such as OFAC’s sanctions programs in the United States, apply to payments regardless of a firm’s country list.

Licensing and local regulation

For the FTMO restricted countries on the residency lists, FTMO gives one stated basis, “business decisions based on risk management considerations,” and no per-country reasons. FTMO’s terms define restricted jurisdictions as countries where FTMO does not provide services “as determined by us at our discretion.” FTMO has not published which licensing or regulatory rule applies where, and this article does not guess.

The United States: what happened in 2026

FTMO’s global CFD FAQ does not list the United States; its footnote sends US clients to “our affiliated entity at https://ftmo.oanda.com (FTMO’s words). FTMO has not published a dated statement on its own sites about when its global platform stopped taking new US clients. Its press releases, give the sequence. On August 26, 2025 FTMO announced a strategic partnership with OANDA to make “modern prop trading accessible to the US market.” On December 2, 2025 it announced completion of its acquisition of OANDA. On March 2, 2026 it announced the OANDA Prop Trader program “will formally conclude on March 31, 2026.”

Eligibility, from Who can join FTMO US?: at least 18 and a legal US resident. The United States includes the 50 states and six territories: American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the United States Minor Outlying Islands, and the US Virgin Islands. Five states are excluded: Arkansas, Delaware, Louisiana, Montana, and South Carolina. To be paid you need a valid US tax identification number, such as a social security number, and a completed IRS Form (W-9) before the first reward. You must also provide proof of ownership of a US bank account at a fully licensed and regulated banking institution; fintech and digital-only payment institutions such as Wise and Chime are not accepted.

What to do if you are in a restricted country

Three checks before you move on. First, whether you can join FTMO at all: FTMO country restrictions, from FTMO’s CFD list page and futures list page, are spread over two restricted lists plus a third tier that only limits the move to a live funded futures account. Second, whether the trigger is your passport or your address. Third, whether other prop firms with shorter lists accept you; the table below covers FundingTraders. If your country is on both firms’ lists (Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, or Venezuela), neither firm is an option, and the FundedNext page linked under the table is the third dated list we publish.

What to check before signing up anywhere

  • The date on the page. FTMO’s CFD eligibility FAQ, shows no date, while its metadata gives February 13, 2026; FundingTraders’ restricted-countries help article shows an update date of July 14, 2026.
  • The details you must submit, and when. FTMO US’s eligibility FAQ: a tax identification number, an IRS Form W-9 before the first payout (its words: “first reward payment”), and proof of bank account ownership. FundingTraders’ KYC Verification article, a standard know your client check, requires verification before the funded account, not the challenge, and lists “Restricted country” among its decline reasons.
  • Which trigger applies, and what happens if the list changes after you buy. FTMO’s CFD FAQ restricts four countries by nationality and residence and the other 71 entries by residence; FundingTraders’ restricted-countries help article defines no trigger. Each firm’s published position on a country added after you sign up is in the table above and in the FAQ below.

Forbidden trading practices, expert advisors, and FTMO Challenge rules

FTMO’s Forbidden Trading Practices page for CFDs forbids trades “operated or managed by automated robots / EAs (Expert Advisors) which cause the trading account to become hyperactive” and third-party access to an FTMO Challenge or FTMO Account. FundingTraders’ General Trading Guidelines, permit expert advisors “only if they are focused on risk management and help foster disciplined and sustainable trading practices.” Check your trading strategy against both before you pay.

How FundingTraders availability compares

FundingTraders’ help article Are there any restricted countries for FundingTraders’ services?, names five countries: Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia (on neither FTMO restricted list, although FTMO’s Live Funded Account page says Mongolian residents are not moved to a live funded futures account), Venezuela, and Myanmar. In its favor:

  • Five against 75, four shared. FundingTraders’ help article names five countries; FTMO’s CFD FAQ names 75, and Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, and Venezuela are on both.
  • A published continuation policy. FundingTraders’ help article on restricted countries lets existing users keep an active challenge or funded account, complete KYC, and request a funded-account payout until they violate an objective or rule (see Requesting a Payout); FTMO’s CFD FAQ, has none.
  • The list shrank in 2026. In June, during World Cup week, FundingTraders removed Russia and Vietnam; on July 20 it reopened Poland, Ukraine, Morocco, and Taiwan, whose traders can take new challenges.

Against it, from FundingTraders’ own pages:

  • Mongolia. It is the one country FundingTraders’ help article restricts that neither of FTMO’s restricted lists does, although FTMO’s Live Funded Account page says Mongolian residents are not moved to a live funded futures account. A Mongolian trader has FTMO’s CFD route and its simulated futures route (without the move to a Live Funded Account), per FTMO’s CFD, futures, and Live Funded Account FAQs, and not FundingTraders.
  • One blanket reason, no definitions. FundingTraders’ help article gives one basis, “regulatory requirements and compliance policies,” and names no trigger (nationality or residence). FundingTraders’ help article has no exception route like the EEA clause in FTMO’s CFD FAQ. It says “we will be implementing restrictions,” which leaves timing ambiguous, and points to unnamed “official announcements.”
  • KYC can still decline you. Absence from the five-country list is not acceptance: FundingTraders’ KYC article names “Restricted country” as a decline reason, and neither FundingTraders article says how sanctions-list hits are handled.

Five countries, one published continuation policy, a KYC page that names its decline reasons: that is the FundingTraders availability check. Account options are on the FundingTraders prop trading page, all in a simulated environment. If you are outside those five, use code BLOG on the dashboard for 30% off all accounts and read FundingTraders’ trading guidelines first.

How we compared

We compared where each firm accepts new clients: the FTMO restricted countries against FundingTraders’ five by named entry, the nationality-or-residence trigger, exception routes, the United States, and existing-client policy when a country is added. Every FTMO fact comes from FTMO’s own FAQ pages, its forbidden-practices page, one trading update, its press releases, and its terms, and every FundingTraders fact from FundingTraders’ help center and blog, when nothing had changed. No third-party review sites, forums, or social posts were used; the only other external links are FATF, OFAC, the IRS, and Investopedia, for reference. FundingTraders is one of the two firms compared and publishes this page.

FAQ

Is FTMO available in Canada?

Yes, as of September 7, 2026. Canada appears on none of FTMO’s three published lists: the CFD restricted list, the futures restricted list, and the futures Live Funded Account list. FTMO’s other exclusions (sanctions lists, financial-crime or terrorism convictions, prior bans, company trusts) still apply.

Does FTMO accept traders from Iran?

Not by default. FTMO’s CFD FAQ on eligibility, excludes persons from Iran by nationality and residence. The one exception: an Iranian national with documented EEA residency and a verifiable account in their own name at a traditional EEA bank (not a neo bank or fintech).

Can I join FTMO from Russia or Belarus?

Not while you are resident there. FTMO’s CFD eligibility list and FTMO Futures eligibility list, list the Russian Federation and Belarus with no published exception. FundingTraders removed Russia from its own restricted list in June 2026, per FundingTraders’ What’s New post dated July 3, 2026, and Belarus is not among the five countries in FundingTraders’ July 14, 2026 help article. See our review of prop firms in Russia for forex trading.

Is FTMO available in the United States in 2026?

Yes, through FTMO US. FTMO’s global FAQ, directs US clients to ftmo.oanda.com. The FTMO US eligibility page, accepts legal US residents aged 18 or over from the 50 states and six territories, excluding Arkansas, Delaware, Louisiana, Montana, and South Carolina. FTMO Futures also accepts US residents, with the same five excluded states and the same tax identification number, IRS Form W-9, and bank conditions, per its futures eligibility FAQ

The bottom line: FTMO restricted countries and which prop firms to check next

A national or resident of Iran, Syria, Myanmar, or North Korea is excluded by FTMO’s CFD FAQ; FTMO’s EEA exception covers nationals of Iran, Syria, and Myanmar only, and FundingTraders’ help article excludes Myanmar too. A trader in one of the FTMO restricted countries (71 CFD entries, 30 futures-only) should check FundingTraders’ five. A US resident outside FTMO US’s five excluded states has FTMO US and FTMO Futures.
